About Blueberry Networks

BlueberryNetworks.ca was started in 2003 to provide internet connectivity to customers who lived outside the reach of DSL internet in Iroquois Falls. The reach of BBN.ca quickly grew to include Val Gagne and Matheson.

Erik Turk is the sole owner and operator of BlueberryNetworks.ca. Erik and his family grew up and attended university in Southern Ontario, and moved to Iroquois Falls in 1991 where he started a career in the Woodlands Division of then Abitibi-Price Inc. Working as a Forester, Erik led the Geographic Information System implementation that supported the creation of planning documents for forest management. Erik was also on the writing team, and was named the first Manager of the Lake Abitibi Model Forest, one site in a national and international network of forest partners dedicated to sustainable forest management.

In 1999, Erik accepted the position of Executive Director with the Ontario Forestry Association. During his three and a half years with the OFA, Erik led a staff of 5-8 people on projects like Ontario Envirothon, private land forestry, and other forest awareness activities.

During both of these career segments, Erik was always involved in managing, maintaining and using personal computers to support his and others work. From this interest, he explored the implementation of wireless internet, so that he could get high speed broadband at his home outside of Iroquois Falls.

Since starting BBN, Erik has received certifications from Cisco and Mikrotik, the manufacturer of the equipment now used in BlueberryNetworks.

Erik enjoys walking his dog on the trails around his house, cheering for the Buffalo Bills, and pretending that he can still play Basketball in the Porcupine Basketball Association.
